Chair of the Governing Body and Chair of Staffing Committee

Vice-Chair and Chair of Buildings and Health & Safety Committee

Foundation Governor

Foundation Governor / Local Authority Governor

Mr John Trollope

Mr James Queay

I have been associated with English Martyrs School for more than 20 years - my son and my youngest daughter were pupils and since then my three grandsons have been pupils at the school. I have been serving on the Governing Body now for more than 10 years and I am in my fifth year as Chair. On leaving the RAF I joined Marconi Avionics (now BAE Systems) as a software engineer and I am now a principle systems engineer working on military avionic systems. I have four children and four grandchildren. You may also recognise me from the Youth Club which I have run for over 20 years.

I have lived in the Medway towns for 35 years and attended local schools before my University education. My two children are attending English Martyrs Primary School. I was elected to be Local Education Authority governor in January 2006 and I also hold the position of Chairman of the Buildings Committee. By profession, I am a Chartered Surveyor and have been involved in the construction and property industries for approximately 20 years.  I am a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of a number of other property professions.

Mr Tim Decker

I took up the post as Headteacher of English Martyrs RC School in September 2005. However my links with the school go back much further as I have been a member of English Martyrs parish for many years and taught at the school before becoming Headteacher. I view the school as an integral part of the parish community.

I have been a member of the Governing body since 2001 initially as Parent Governor and since 2005, a Foundation Governor. I am also the Link Governor with the local Council’s Governor Services and was elected Chair of Finance in October 2007. My two children attended the school and are currently at local secondary schools. I am a Minister of the Word and a Minister of the Eucharist in church. In my professional life I work as a Fundraiser at the International Glaucoma Association based in Ashford and am a member of the Institute of Fundraising. In my spare time I enjoy playing squash and badminton as well as down hill skiing and long distance walks. For over 25 years I have been involved with the Northern Cross Pilgrimage to Lindisfarne which takes place during Holy Week each year. Tim Decker has been involved with the school for nearly 20 years as all 5 of his children have been educated there. His wife, Angela works for English Martyr's Church as the Parish Administrator and Tim works in London for a large US Bank. Tim is also a regular helper at the youth club.

I am happy to be associated with English Martyrs School, and endeavour to make a contribution to the great service provided by all concerned with the welfare of our children.  I was born in Dublin and have spent time in North and South America as a priest of the church on mission.

I have lived in Kent for the last 24 years and have been associated with both English Martyrs School and the church for more than 15 years.  My youngest son was a pupil at the school and as a family we worship in the parish.  My husband Dario and I have 5 children.  On Sunday I play hymns together with Richard Smith at St. Justus’.  I joined the board of governors September 2009 and have been invited to join the Curriculum committee.  I work as a specialist teacher and assessor with children from various schools.  These children have a variety of special needs, mainly dyslexia, dyscalculia and autism.  I am the parish catechist and together with two very dedicated teams run First Holy Communion classes for children that do not attend catholic schools and the R.C.I.A. course.

I joined the Governing Body as a Foundation Governor in January 2007, and am a member of the Curriculum and Staffing committees. I have three children who all attend (and enjoy) the school. I work at a local school, as well as acting as Clerk to two other Governing Bodies.  I am a member of the Children’s Liturgy Team at English Martyrs, and am also an Adult Helper at our local youth club.
