REMINDERS ON SCHOOL
PROCEDURES
SCHOOL DINNERS
School
dinners are proved by Scolarest who deal with all the administration
themselves. Dinners now cost £1.75 per day. If you have
queries or problems you need to phone Mrs Bunker our Catering Manager after 9.30
am on 715946.
You can help
eliminate problems if you:-
-
always pay by cheque
-
make sure payment is an
envelope with the child’s name, class and the dates you are paying for clearly
written on it
-
make sure that payments are always up to date
- request
meals for the whole week (not odd days)
PLAYGROUND FENCE/SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN BEFORE AND AFTER
SCHOOL
Children are
not allowed to sit or climb on the wooden fence around our playground for their
own safety. I would like to ask adults to respect this rule too. The fence is
not designed for sitting on and children who follow your example are in danger
of being hurt.
I would also
like to remind you that children are not allowed to run and play in the areas
beyond the fence, again for safety reasons. Please supervise your children
before and after school ensuring that they keep out of these areas.
On the
playground area children are not allowed to kick footballs before school. They
do enjoy chasing around so I would ask you to keep a close eye on toddlers and
to keep pushchairs near you, again to avoid accidents.
If your child
has a problem with another child you should not talk to that child or his/her
parents in the playground, especially if you are upset or angry. It always
makes the situation worse. I am happy to investigate such problems or you can
make an appointment to see your child’s teacher.
PUNCTUALITY/SMOOTH START TO
DAY/SAFETY
Children
should not be on the premises before 8.40 am when the gates open. They
are supervised by a teacher from 8.45 am onwards. We ask parents to
stand well back from the area where children go into class as soon as the bell
goes at 8.55 am. In particular this is an appeal to the parents of
children in Classes A, B, and C to move well back from the children as we try to
get them into school as quickly and quietly as possible. On wet days children
go in through one of the Keystage 2 doors. Parents should not go into school
with them. We have staff on duty to supervise. At the end of the day
children should be picked up from the playground at 3.15 pm (except Class
A terms 1 & 2). Please do not ask them to meet you or a child minder outside
the school gates. This is dangerous for a number of reasons.
If you arrive
at school after 8.55 am (which is very disruptive for everyone) you need
to take your child to the main school entrance (where they will be marked in as
late) as the doors to the school from the playground cannot be opened from the
outside without a swipe card.
MESSAGES FOR TEACHERS
I would like
to remind you not to talk to teachers/LSAs when they are in the playground
organising their classes for the beginning of the school day. Messages
regarding children should be written and sent in a letter or in the contact
book. If your child has a problem we ask you to make an appointment to talk to
the teacher at a time suitable for both of you. If your problem is really
urgent I will do my best to see you without an appointment.
PE KIT
Some children
cannot take part in PE lessons because they do not have appropriate clothes to
wear. Please ensure that your child brings to school a PE kit, clearly marked
and in a PE bag.
LOST PROPERTY/ITEMS IN SCHOOL
Please
encourage your children to take responsibility for items of clothing, especially
coats and sweatshirts which are often left in the playground. It is a great
help if all items are clearly marked. It is not a good idea for children to
bring items to school which are precious to them, expensive or easily broken.
It is easy for items to be mislaid and this can be distressing for children.
Children must not bring mobile phones to school.
HEALTH AND HYGIENE
Earrings – A Health And Safety Point
Children are
not allowed to wear jewellery in school. This includes earrings and studs. In
particular children cannot take part in PE lessons if they are wearing
studs/earrings. The teacher will ask children who wear these to school to
remove them before taking part in a PE lesson. Children who have ears pierced
in the middle of term cannot take part in any PE or games lessons while they are
waiting for ears to heal. They must also come to school with the
earrings taped over. This is why it is best to do this at the start of the
summer holidays or not at all while they are in primary school.
Drinking
Bottles
We encourage
all children to drink water throughout the day. Please ensure that they are
provided with clear bottles containing plain water. Some children bring
frozen water during hot weather, which causes problems with water dripping from
the bottles and spoiling work. This is not a good idea.
Headlice/Hairstyles
Please check
your child’s hair at least once a week, taking action if necessary. To help
prevent the spread of headlice and to keep distractions to a minimum we ask you
to ensure that children with long hair have this tied back in school.
Tissues
We do
encourage pupils to bring in their own packs of tissues, particularly if they
have a cold.
NEIGHBOURS
Finally could
I ask you to show consideration and respect for our neighbours on your journeys
to and from school. We often get complaints about inconsiderate parking and
occasional complaints about inappropriate behaviour. Please ensure that the
image presented outside the school provides a true reflection of the considerate
parents and pupils that I genuinely believe we have.
VOUCHERS
We continue
to collect vouchers (Tesco's / Sainsbury's / Books for Schools etc) . These enable us to buy
items for the school or to raise funds for particular charities so your support
is appreciated.
Thank you for
your co-operation on all the above.
